“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Ferris Bueller

This interview is only a snapshot of the high school memories of Nan Shoenfelt. Though this may not be all of them and there are far more moments that have impacted her life, this will hopefully give some expression of what life is like in Randolph and provide guidance for the future.

The Interview: Class of 1981

Q: What was your favorite memory from Randolph High School or your time in Randolph in general?

"Marching band"

Q: Were there any teachers that influenced you while you were in high school? Did they change how you thought or what you planned to do with your life after high school?

"Mr. Pribula [he was my] pre-calc and calculus [teacher]"

Q: What activities were you a part of? How did doing those activities (clubs/sports/work/ect.) help you both in high school and out of high school?

"Band, orchestra, swimming, Miss Randolph Pageant, student government. These all help with working as a group."

Q: If you could tell your high school self one thing you know now what would it be? Why is it important to tell yourself that?

"Socialize more"

Q: What lessons have you learned since graduating that you otherwise would not know?

"It's not necessarily what you learn in school that makes you successful."

Q: What advice would you give future generations going into high school?

"Find a good balance between hard work and fun."

Interview notes:

There are times in our lives that we can look back to with such fondness and smile at the memories from. Our time in high school is one of those that we often forget to look at and see the good in. Despite anything that occured in our time there, there will always be good in even the smallest moments we experienced.

I would like to thank Nan Shoenfelt for the time she willingly offered to me to answer the aforementioned questions. It truly is an honor to learn of the past and I am greatly appreciative for all the help I have received during this project.
